Timothy You, M.D. focuses his practice on the medical and surgical treatment of retinal and vitreous diseases. His specialty and research interests include macular degeneration, cataract surgery complications, diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity and telemedicine. He is committed to providing compassionate care for his patients.
Dr. You completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Harvard Medical School. After residency, he completed two additional years of subspecialty training in retinal surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He received several prestigious awards, including the Thomas Heed Ophthalmic Fellowship, Herman Knapp Fellowship, and Teaching Awards at Harvard and Brown Medical Schools. Dr. You attended Yale College, where he graduated with honors and distinction in his major. He attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a Penn Medical Scholar and finished an anatomic pathology fellowship. Prior to returning to California, he practiced at the Rhode Island Eye Institute, which is affiliated with Brown Medical School where he was an Assistant Clinical Professor.
His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retinal Specialists, Western Retina Study Club, Orange County Medical Association, and the Orange County Society of Ophthalmology.
As an active researcher, Dr. You has published over 20 research articles, and participated in numerous FDA clinical trials and laboratory-based investigations focusing on new pharmacologic treatments for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. You regularly organizes medical mission projects including Guatemala, Baja California, and Cambodia. He is a board member for the non-profit organization, Gift of Vision Foundation, which focuses on the visual needs of the impoverished in Central America.
